Almost one in five people who used the Tube last week did not travel on it this morning, figures from Transport for London (TfL) show.

Just one million people used London Underground up to 10:00 GMT on Monday, compared with 1.3m last Thursday as government guidance to work from home kicks in.

That means Tube passenger numbers fell back to 46% of pre-pandemic levels.

Bus usage was down 6% compared to last week with 1.15m journeys up to 10:00, which TfL says is 71% of pre-pandemic levels.
